I found your blog through a Google search about Lutheranism. I was wondering if you could help me with a question. Is it possible to be a true Christian without feeling the internal witness of the Spirit telling you that you're a child of God? I want to follow Christ, not just to escape Hell, but because I know he is glorious. I know he is the only hope for sin, and I ask Him to be His over and over, but I don't think Christianity is working for me. I want God, but He is not taking me. I don't have supernatural fruits of the Spirit. My question is, how can one distinguish between saving faith and mere intellectual assent? How can I be sure I am saved and have real faith? The Bible says many will say, "Lord, Lord," to Jesus, thinking they were saved, but He will say He never knew them. How can we avoid being in their category? Hi Pastor.
