The Burr in the Burbs

Not long ago, I watched Sophie Scholl – The Final Days Sophie Scholl. I’d read much about it when it was briefly in the theaters. Then I got it through Netflix but kept putting off watching it. I need to be in the right mood to watch a film with subtitles. What a terrific movie! It’s based on a true account of a young German woman and her family who resisted the Nazis during WWII. Naturally, I was particularly pleased with the sympathetic manner in which Scholl’s Christian faith was portrayed.

  1. Scott,
We viewed this film about a month ago and were really impressed.
One thing, though, in retrospect, I keep wondering if it really was a film about Scholl’s faith in Christ or about exposing the evils of Hitler and his regime. I found the interrogator to be almost overly sympathetic and wanting to save her from execution. I wonder if he really was that desirous of finding her guilty.BTW, the scenes between him and Sophie are excellent; we were glued to the screen! Excellent film overall!
