What I’m Reading
One of my flaws is that I can never seem to read one book at a time.
I usually have at least one item of fiction going.
A book on homiletics that came highly recommended by a friend.
A book by one of my favorite writers about one of my favorite writers.

I love O’connor, she manages to make even the most dislikable characters sympathetic.
never read dracula. I should since I starred in a school production of it in the day. I got to put the stake in dracula. Too bad I put it in flat end down.

I too seem to have many books going at the same time. I just bought Good Poems Collected favorites by G. Keillor (This at the constant encouragement of Pastor Peterson to read poems)…Spiritual Care by Bonhoeffer…They Will See His Face by R. Eyer (Great book…this is my second time through)…The Fire and the Staffby K. Preus…I have others too that I have ready to be read…and others that I want. How is Veith’s treatment of C.S. Lewis? That sounds very interesting!

I’m not a good person to ask since I will not see Tom Cruise Movies on principal. Along with J. Lo,and others.

I don’t think I’d like Tom Cruise as a person much, but I do believe he is a skilled actor. He was very impressive in “Vanilla Sky.”
I’ve only read a couple of Anne Rice’s vampire books, but “Interview” is not one of them. I have, however, seen the movie a number of times.
Whether I recommend it depends on who is going to watch it and why. I think the film has many merits, both artistically and in terms of discussing the great themes of life: sin, mortality, eternal life, etc. It is well made and entertaining, if you like the genre.
It does contain some nudity and a good deal of vampire violence. The faint of heart will find it shocking. Of course, compared to many other films today, it is moderately mild, I think.
Themes I think can be found include: the seductiveness of sin; the addictive quality of sin; St. Paul’s struggle “what I want to do I don’t do…”; the meaning of eternal life; the sanctity of human life; the biblical theme “the life is in the blood.”
