JD,
I don't agree with everything Coulter writes any more than I agree with everything written or spoken by others I may cite or reference.

And her style is definitely different than my own. I'm not nearly so caustic. She relies heavily on outrageous statements and hyperbole. She is a rhetorical satirist.

Do I frequently agree with her politics? Yes, I admit that I do. Do I think she wrote an excellent piece on Mel Gibson's "Passion" film? Absolutely. And that's what I quoted.

I quote all sorts of people in my sermons for illustrative purposes. Everyone from Bob Dylan to Frodo Baggins. Quoting a person about one thing doesn't mean I accept everything else he or she ever said.

I'd really be interested in hearing why you feel it's in your congregation's best interests for you to be quoting Ann Coulter at the pulpit. I'm sure you're aware of her quotes such as:

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

and

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."

and

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

Do you endorse such beliefs? You did call the woman clearheaded, so I have to imagine you do, but I'd love to be corrected.

I'm like you. As soon as I made my list, I wanted to do another one. I fudged by calling my list the list for June 2005. I'll likely do this again myself.

BTW: I've linked.
